Must-see attractions

Strasbourg's must-sees on foot or by bike

Stroll through the heart of Petite France along the River Ill and "Instagram" the pretty, colourful half-timbered houses. Waiting for a boat to pass in front of the lock, wandering through the picturesque cobbled streets of this charming, typically Alsatian district. Stop for a moment in front of Strasbourg's majestic cathedral. Take the time to observe it, as it hides a wealth of details. Discover the city in a different way on a boat trip, or explore the European Quarter, with its many European institutions and lush parkland. Or head for the "new town" or Neustadt district. This is an extension of the Grand Ile district, built between 1871 and 1914 when Alsace was annexed to Prussia. It's a completely different atmosphere, but just as interesting to explore, with its sandstone and ashlar buildings blending Haussmannian, neo-Gothic and Art Nouveau styles.
