Winstub
During your stay in Strasbourg, sample the pleasure of discovering a real Alsatian winstub.
With its typical Alsatian atmosphere and gastronomy, a winstub is a warm and inviting place to stay.
Our favourite dishes :
- Wädele (knuckle of ham)
- Grumbeerekiechle (potato pancakes)
- Bibeleskäs (cottage cheese with garlic and herbs)
- Bäckeoffe
- Sauerkraut
- Flamkueche (flambé tart)
Winstubs were originally popular places, created to enable wine producers to sell their surplus production by running a restaurant directly in their homes. In a warm, rustic setting, the wine was served in jugs, accompanied by home-cooked local dishes. Today, the Winstub is a bistro where you can enjoy Alsatian gastronomy in a friendly atmosphere, either in the pure tradition of the region or with a new twist, depending on the address.
Our favourite addresses:
- Le Pont Corbeau
- Chez Yvonne
- La Vieille enseigne
To keep with the Alsatian theme, a few words to make sure you don't feel out of place:
